Grey squirrel

Squirrels are a common sight throughout the UK. They have become very ingenious at adapting ways of finding food and living alongside humans. Their sense of smell is so strong that they can find food buried beneath a foot of snow; they have to gather more food than they need as they lose a lot of it to scavengers; they are very clever at avoiding capture, sometimes by zigzagging to deter predators. They are also very adept at stealing food that has been left out for other creatures such as birds.
